Aztar was The Spectre, the Wrath of God. He died when Heaven and Hell were destroyed.

History

After humanity embraced evil and the world degenerated into violence and chaos, Heaven and Hell were somehow caught in at some point and fell, resulting in Aztar's death. His remains acted as a gateway to Limbo, where Batman and Wonder Woman retreated into to escape mind-controlled Superman clones.
