Barbara Gordon was the daughter of Tony Gordon, the commissioner of the Gotham City police department who took over after his father James Gordon retired from that position.
History
Around the middle of the 1960s she took on the identity of Batgirl and became Dick Grayson's (Batman) partner in crimefighting for a time and also his lover. In the late 1990s Barbara served as the first known female President of the United States who had Alan Scott as well as former President Harold Jordan and his wife Carol under protective custody in the White House while the Green Lantern Corps' enemy Sinestro sought to kill all Green Lanterns, which included Alan's successor Kyle Rayner.
