Barbara Gordon was Oracle, an information broker for the Insurgency, though she later returned to the field as Batgirl.

Before Metropolis

Before the destruction of Metropolis, Barbara Gordon was recruited to Batman's circle of vigilantes, becoming the hero "Batgirl". She became close with the Bat's sidekick Dick Grayson, as noticed by her father. Though he pretended not to know any of their secret identities for their own benefit, Barbara's father Commissioner Jim Gordon always knew who they were and what his daughter was doing when she snuck out at night.

At some point, Barbara lost the use of her legs and began using a wheelchair. She was forced to retire as Batgirl and adopted a supporting role to the Batman's crusade.

Barbara Gordon (Injustice The Regime) 003

Barbara as Oracle

After the destruction of Metropolis, during the second year of Superman's regime, Barbara aided the Insurgency as a communications center, using the codename "Oracle". Batman was taken out of commission for the year, having had his back broken by Superman at the end of the year before, and Oracle stepped up to help lead the Insurgency in his absence.

For nine months, while the Regime battled with the Green Lantern Corps, Barbara and the Insurgency tried to reclaim control of Gotham from the authoritarian forces.

On the day of the Green Lanterns' final attack, Barbara organized the Insurgency's attack on the Hall of Justice, capturing a few of the Regime's heroes. Cyborg, with his ability to hack into anything cybernetic, almost pinpointed Oracle's location, which would have doomed the Insurgency, but he was stopped just in time by Barbara's father Jim Gordon, having broken his way onto the Justice League Watchtower on a suicide mission to hurt the Regime. Succumbing to his cancer onboard the space station, Jim said goodbye to his daughter and Batman over their secure commlink.

Year Three

Barbara was inactive during the third year of the Regime, completely avoiding the magical interference of John Constantine and the Spectre.

Year Four

After the world was saved from Mister Mxyzptlk and Trigon, the Insurgency went into a state of dormancy for a few months to come up with their next plan.

At this point, Barbara was contacted by her informant Lex Luthor, who offered her the use of her legs back using experimental surgery. [1] Despite the risks which Luthor warned her about extensively, Barbara agreed to the procedure. The surgery was a success, and Barbara returned to active duty with the Insurgency, once again as Batgirl. [2] Bruce refused Barbara's help at first, disbelieving the surgery she had gone through, but Barbara refused his refusal and swore to help them either way.

Afterwards, Batgirl watched as the Insurgency, having teamed up with the Gods of Olympus and the Amazons of Paradise Island, tricked Wonder Woman into evoking one-on-one combat between herself and Superman. When this combat failed due to interference from Sinestro, Batgirl participated in the war alongside the Amazons and knocked out Robin. [3] During the fight, Batgirl urged Batwoman not to kill Wonder Woman for the death of Huntress. Because of this, Kate relented. [4] The fighting escalated to the point that Zeus came down from Olympus and threatened to kill Billy Batson if Superman didn't disband his Regime. Superman complied for the sake of Billy's life and told his team members to go back to their original cities until further notice. [5]

Days later, with the Regime seemingly disbanded, Batgirl attended a tribute dinner on Themyscira until Poseidon, having allied himself with Superman, prepared to drown the city with a tidal wave. [6] He was distracted by Aquaman long enough that Batgirl and the rest of the Insurgency organized an evacuation of Themyscira. [7]

Year Five

Eventually, Superman teamed up with villains to further his mission and hired Bane to track down Batman. In doing so, Bane kidnapped and tortured Catwoman for information. Batgirl, under orders from Batman, was ordered to find where the villain was keeping her. Barbara tracked Selina to a location in the sewers and was attacked by Bane's ally Killer Croc. [8] Together Batgirl and Catwoman defeated Killer Croc and escaped the sewers. [9]

Batgirl and the Insurgency target Cyborg for evidence against Superman

Barbara continued to offer behind-the-scenes support, helping to organize the attacks on Regime recruitment centers around the globe. [10]

Barbara attended the funeral of Alfred after he was killed by Victor Zsasz on orders from Superman. [11]

Batman, Batgirl, and Batwoman broke into the Hall of Justice with an EMP and attempted to kidnap Cyborg for information about the massacre of the Joker Clan. Though Superman arrived to capture them, they were saved just in time when Hawkman arrived with a Kryptonite mace. Hawkman was murdered by Superman, but the Insurgency escaped with Cyborg as their prisoner. [12] 200 feet under the irradiated ruins of Metropolis, the Insurgency successfully hacked Cyborg and tried to broadcast footage of Superman murdering a group of civilians to the entire world, but their broadcast was magically interrupted by Raven.

Having run out of options, Batman went to Lex Luthor about obtaining DNA samples from members of the Regime in order to unlock a Kryptonite super-weapon he kept hidden in the Batcave. Lex, at this point, suggested requesting outside help throughout the multiverse. [13]

Using Speed Force energy secretly siphoned from the Flash and a blueprint for a Mother Box stolen by Deathstroke from S.T.A.R. Labs, Batgirl and the Insurgency connected to an alternate Earth and prepared to beam them to their world for assistance when their location was compromised by the Regime, having learned of their location from Catwoman in exchange for sparing Bruce's life. In the invasion, Batgirl was struck by Superman's heat vision and deeply injured. Batman distracted Superman while Batgirl and Batwoman tried to finish the transfer process. Batwoman sacrificed her life to act as a conductor for the machine, but the mission was ultimately a success - the heroes from the alternate world had arrived. [14]

These alternate histories should not be seen as relevant to future sequels or comic adaptations.
James Gordon (Injustice The Regime)

Not all heroes were destroyed by Superman; some were actually created by him. A technology wizard, Barbara Gordon had eluded detection by One Earth intelligence, feeding information to the insurgency under the code name "Oracle". But after the regime's murder of her father, Gotham Police Commissioner James Gordon, Barbara channeled her anger into a new alter-ego.

Sensing the right opportunity to strike, she attacked Superman directly. By defeating the High Councilor, she had announced "Batgirl" to the world in an impressive fashion.
