Barnabas Tookoome was a firefighter smokejumper with Inuit roots, who had half his face scarred after fighting a forest fire in Alaska.
History
His grandfather was a shaman, and his father a geologist, and he could not decide what future was for him to follow, so he was stuck in the middle.[1]
He found Tefé Holland unconscious near a river that was close to his forest cabin and nursed her back to health. She tried to heal his face, but he refused, stating that this was him now. He can't change back what he is, nor does he want to. After seeing her use her powers to stop a forest fire, he grew infatuated with Tefé, and started traveling with her, who was searching for her purpose.[2]
