Baron von Luger was a Nazi spy operating a Fifth Column network in the United States. He was an enemy of Batman.
History
To support the war effort, Batman set up the Bond Wagon. Reenacting battles from the Revolutionary War with honest citizens standing in as Founding Fathers proved popular - so popular Von Luger tried to sabotage it.
He had his agents infiltrate the Hessians during the Battle of Trenton show. Robin prevented them from shooting the actors. Not worried about the temporary setback, Von Luger contacted his home base and had U-168 fire on a replica of the USS Bonhomme Richard. Batman and Robin overpowered the crew, forcing Von Luger into the open. He had his men bring him one of the actors, a disgraced college football player, to bribe him. The man played along, luring Robin to his location and allowing Batman and Robin to take the spy out.
Notes
- This version of Baron von Luger, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
