Barry Allen is a forensic scientist in Central City.

History

One night, Barry was working late in his laboratory during a thunderstorm. A bolt of lightning almost hit a shelf of chemicals, which would have spilled onto him and granted him great speed. However, the lightning was blocked by Bru-El and Valora-El, who were playing tag in the storm. As such Barry never became The Flash.

Years later the Guardians of the Universe used Barry's averted destiny as an example to Jor-El of how his family's presence on Earth had stunted humanity's development.
