Batgirl: New Hero of the Night is a 2016 book for young readers, part of Scholastic's Backstories series.

Synopsis for "Batgirl: New Hero of the Night (Backstories)"

Since she was a teenager, Barbara Gordon idolized Batman. Eventually she became one of his "students" and started out a crime-fighting career which appeared to be over when the Joker crippled her. However, Barbara pulled herself together and reclaimed her cowl and cape, founding a new super-team -the Birds of Prey- and battling new villains like Knightfall.

Eventually she decided that she had to step out of the shadow of Batman and moved to Burnside, another district of Gotham City, becoming its new protector.
