Synopsis for "How This World Goes!"

Batman receives word from Commissioner Gordon that a young girl has been kidnapped, with only her locket and a piece of glass left behind.

In the Batcave, Nightwing recognizes the glass as a slide used by bluesmen for playing the guitar. He and Batman go to the place it was found, in a run-down neighborhood. They find an elderly blind man being picked on by some thugs, and after scaring them off, learn that the slide belongs to the man, called B.L. Pledge. He tells them all the details he noticed about the kidnapper and that he put his slide down near the locket so they would find him.

Later, Batgirl, disguised as a policewoman, interrogates the girl's family about their jobs. Batman then checks multiple places for information, and learns that Al Vincelli was unhappy about an exposé that a television station put out. Batman shows up at her place, who reveals that the faceless hitman, Chas Carswell, knew that the television station got some shots of him. She tells him how to get in touch with him, and Batman enlists the help of B.L. Pledge to identify the man.

Together, they find the hideout of the kidnapper, where Pledge notices that the echo is wrong. Batman rips down a hollow wall to find the abducted girl. Outside, Pledge alerts Batman to the hitman, who is disguised, and he takes him down. After arresting the criminal and reuniting the girl with her family, B.L. Pledge tells Batman, "You don't need eyes to recognize a hero."
