Synopsis for "Last Chance"
Deadman narrates the story of his death, beginning with him preparing to perform at Haly's Circus alongside Dick Grayson. Before the show starts, Vashnu, a mystic, warns Deadman that there will be danger. However, Deadman ignores the premonition. As Dick and Deadman perform the Double Double Flip, Deadman is shot and killed in midair by a man with a hook. Although his body is still, his spirit remains able to move and witness the aftermath of his death.
Rama Kushna, the spirit of being, appears in the form of Vashnu and tells Deadman that he will be given one last chance for balance. He is given the power to walk among humanity until he has found his murderer. Deadman watches as Batman and his team track down the killer. They find the hideout of the Sensei and start fighting members of a sect in Gotham City. However, Hook is about to shoot Batman when Deadman possesses Batman's body and avoids the shot. He interrogates Hook about his death and learns that it was part of an initiation into the League of Assassins. Hook then tries to suicide by jumping to his death, but Deadman possesses him and safely lands. He then confesses as Hook and tells Batman to lock him up for life. As a result, Deadman's spirit leaves the body and fades, although Deadman questions if he actually solved his murder or if it was just a dream.
