Batman: Gotham Knights #22 is an issue of the series Batman: Gotham Knights (Volume 1) with a cover date of December, 2001.

Synopsis for "Bugged Out"

An exterminator is attacked and devoured by cockroaches in his apartment, only to reform and walk out of the building. He throws a pressure vessel of pesticide out the window, which panics the people on the sidewalk below. He steals a car and drives it straight into the headquarters of the exterminator's company, exploding it.

Batman hears reports of more Jokerized offenders near Burnley, and when Oracle tells he has alienated all his usual allies, he decides to call in Spoiler to observe the situation while he handles other crises. Spoiler witnesses the explosion at Complete Clean Exterminators and the man walking out of the blaze. Batman warns her to keep her distance while she follows him.

She follows him down an alley where she witnesses him turn into cockroaches to devour a homeless man. The cockroaches attack her next, and she screams, though she also elbows them away from her. Batman rushes to her side and destroys the cockroaches with a small explosive. He realizes the cockroaches were Jokerized and dubs them "Kafka" (a name he has to explain to Spoiler). She apologizes for talking all night, but he tells her he doesn't mind the company.

Spoiler stays in the alley until the GCPD come. She says she is going to bed and teases Batman for staying up while Batman notices a cockroach crawling on the Batcomputer.
