Synopsis for "The Letter"
Detective Lawson informs Bruce Wayne that John Spencer, the caretaker of his family's summer home, has been found dead. He killed himself two months after his wife died of breast cancer.
Bruce meets the Spencers' son at the house and offers to give it to him, but in spite of growing up there, Darryl doesn't consider the house his home and refuses. Bruce goes digging through his parents' belongings and finds five love letters written to his father by a woman who signed her name "E."
Bruce is disturbed by the implication that his father was unfaithful and his parents' marriage wasn't as perfect as he had imagined. He watches old home movies trying to find signs that Thomas was faking it and tracks down the woman, Eve Mackay, based on a remark she made in one letter about their work together at the hospital.
Bruce hosts a benefit for the hospital as an excuse to meet her. His questions make her suspicious, and she realizes he found the letters. She says she didn't have an affair with Thomas and he gave her letters to Martha, who was the one who kept them. Bruce offers her the letters back, but she says she doesn't need them because she has the memories. Bruce agrees that he has them too.
