Synopsis for "No Place Like Home"

Batman while chasing after Catwoman, states he doesn't usually carw if a criminal robs another as it helps when they damage each other. But robbing someone like the Malfi clan risks starting a street war. As he catches her, the Malfi henchmen discover them both and fire at them. The Malfis used to be a small-time gang of thieves before growing into a powerful clan pawning all stolen things in Gotham and get extremely upset when robbed. Batman ties up Selina to a lamppost as she tries to run away while he deals with the Malfis and takes advantage of the fact that they've spent their time in learning how to rob rather than to learn how to fight.

As he knocks out all the Malfi goons, Batman checks Selina's bag for what she stole and finds diamonds inside it and berates her for angering the Malfi clan just for them. Catwoman states she knows he'll protect her and is questioned by Batman for using her abilities for thievery instead of fighting the criminals of their hometown. As she escapes the rope Batman tied her up in, she tells him that everyone is after something they don't have. As she escapes without the diamonds, Batman wonders why she risked a street war Nd the Malfis coming after her if they weren't that important.

Back at the Batcave, Batman hands the bag of diamonds to Alfred and states Catwoman stole them, but he let her escape. Alfred states that's not something he'd usually do and Bruce agrees, revealing he is actually tracking her. Many years earlier, the young Bruce and Selina had met each other at a police station when they had been arrested for different crimes. One of the cops upon learning Bruce is in their custody, asks the other what he did and is told that he was being drunk and disorderly. Bruce however states he wasn't being disorderly and asks Selina what she did. As she rebuffs her question, he guesses she ran away from home, but she states she didn't.

As Selina mocks him for getting caught over being drunk, Bruce boasts Alfred will get him out quickly. She again mocks him, stating someone else has to look after him despite him being a grown-up but where she's from, people have to count on themselves. She was an expert theif for the Malfis and was assigned by their boss to train younger children in the art of stealing. One of the girls Penny however got caught by him in a test and was slapped, before being warned she'll be sold as a slave if she didn't make it as a thief. Selina assured him that she'll train her, but gave her money to look after herself when he went away and told her to flee.

Bruce has asked Selina about her future plans, she states she can't do anything except run as she has no home. Alfred comes up to him soon and informs that he's free to go and as Bruce turns around to ask if she wants a donut, he finds that she has escaped. Back in the present, Selina is being held at a warehouse by the Malfis and their boss tells them to remove the hood from her head so he could see that she's scared. When she mocks them, he states that the place is where they dispose of people they want dead and no one will care for her. Selina states that someone actually does, just before Batman bursts in through the wall and subdues all the henchmen.

After knocking out a henchman aiming at Batman, Catwoman stops Boss Malfi from fleeing. Batman states that he was tracking her and Selina reveals that she knew, using it to help her take the Malfis down. Selina asks Boss Malfi makes him reveal where he's hiding the trafficked children and he recognizes her when she takes off her mask. The children are rescued by the Gotham police and Batman later asks her why she didn't simply ask him for help. She states that she doesn't trust him and runs away from him because deep down she is a thief. She however knew he'd fight the Malfis because Gotham is dear to him as a home. As she leaves, Bruce states that everyone's affected by the tragedy that makes them who they are, but she might have a home which doesn't have to be a place and isn't alone just because she isn't perfect.
