This paperback collects the Batman: Hush storyline. This part of the storyline originally was published from December, 2002 to November, 2003 in the comic book series Batman. This story was written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Jim Lee.

In this story Batman sets out on a simple mission to discover the identity of the mysterious villain wreaking havoc in his life known as Hush. But Batman ends up facing possibly the most intense case of his life as secrets from his past flood into the present, and the most notorious villains to ever haunt Gotham City's street attack simultaneously.

This paperback starts with an two-page Batman origin story, under the title The Legend of the Batman: Who He Is and How He Came to Be, written by Jeph Loeb, with illustrations by Jim Lee. This origin story originally appeared at the website of DC Comics.

  • The title of the two-page origin story in this paperback is a reverence to the first Batman origin story, published in Detective Comics #33 in November, 1939 (there it serves as an prologue to the story The Batman Wars Against the Dirigible of Doom).
  • This paperback contains an introduction by writer Jeph Loeb, under the title Just Right.
  • This paperback also contains an afterword by penciler Jim Lee, under the title Voices.
  • This paperback contains nine pages of additional artwork.
  • This is not the first paperback that releases the Batman: Hush storyline. The first time the storyline was published in two separate paperbacks: Batman: Hush Vol 1 and Batman: Hush Vol 2.
