Quote1 I believe I could come to love you, Batgirl. If you have made it through this challenge with as much wisdom and cleverness as I anticipate, it is possible... likely even... that I already do. Quote2

Synopsis for "For Better or Worse"

Riddler has challenged Batgirl to one of his games. He has left a walkman playing a pre-recorded message on a rooftop, stating she has to play his game if she wants to save four persons before their time runs out.

As Barbara follows his clues and rescues his victims despite his minions running interference, the Riddler lays out his reasons to want to tangle with her all of sudden. Batman and Catwoman's planned wedding has made him reconsider his own life's choices and wonder if he could find his soulmate. Nevertheless, he isn't interested in most of women he has met. He longs for an intelligent woman. Thus, he has devised a gauntlet of traps and puzzles only for her.

The Riddler's tape is over but she hasn't found the last hostage. The Riddler's last words clue her on going back to her starting point. He is waiting for her on the rooftop and hands over the second tape. Batgirl starts playing the tape and fighting Riddler. As Batgirl and Riddler battle, the tape says he could come to love a woman able to solve his puzzles, but he is well aware that there can never be anything between them... although he can't help but wonder. Batgirl manages to knock him down, and his last words clue her in the fourth victim's location.

The Riddler, though, takes advantage of it to escape. Victorious but exhausted and shaken, Batgirl decides to call Nightwing in case he wants to get some coffee together.

Meanwhile, the Riddler has been knocked, dragged to Gotham Harbor and stuffed into a container trash container. He points out those aren't the actions of a hero but of another psychopath. Harley Quinn replies she doesn't care. She is looking for the Joker and demands information.
