Synopsis for "A Contract With Death"

On Halloween, Batman hunts a serial killer with an unusual modus operandi--every Halloween for the last eight years, he has killed one person (a male in his twenties) by drowning. He is pulled away from his search by a mugging, and while he is distracted, the killer nabs his latest victim.

Melvin ties down his victim and begins running the water, and as he waits for him to die, he recounts how he came to serve "Lord Death" after a Halloween party nine years earlier.

Batman realizes the killer already took his yearly victim and follows their trail to an abandoned slaughter house. He bursts in and knocks Melvin aside to rescue his victim. Melvin has a breakdown at his failure to honor his deal with Lord Death and tries to kill himself. Batman stops him and leaves him for the police.
