Trivia

  • Billy Batson is shown being raised in an orphanage, with Miss Minerva as director.
  • The Radio Silencer was a gadget used by Sivana to blackmail the WHIZ Radio in Whiz Comics #2, but on this episode, it could also affect any communication, as telephone and internet.
  • A WHIZ radio reporter is named Tom Tyler; this is the name of the actor who portrayed Captain Marvel in the Adventures of Captain Marvel serial.
  • Black Adam was lost on a distant planet until he was contacted by Sivana; Black Adam is also shown to age immediately all subjective years which were denied when he was in his powerful form upon returning to his mortal form. Both facts are allusions to Marvel Family #1, where the villain was banished by Shazam to the farthest star and died of age when he said Shazam.
    • Even the way Batman defeats Doctor Sivana, making him accidentally say the word "Shazam" is the same way Uncle Marvel defeated Black Adam.
  • Doctor Sivana briefly acquires the power of Shazam and becomes Captain Sivana; This is a tribute to DC Comics Presents Annual #3, but his uniform in this episode is yellow with red details, homaging the uniform worn by Zazzo-Plus in Shazam #19.
  • Batman uses his detective skills to find Billy's sister, Mary Batson. Her Judy Garland-like appearance is shown as the character had it during the Golden Age stories.
  • One of the bullies at the orphanage is named C.C. which is a possible reference to one of Shazam's creator C.C. Beck
