Synopsis for "The Attack of the Virtual Villains"

Posing as one another, Superman and Batman pretend to fall victim to Toyman's latest plot. As soon as Toyman begins to gloat, the heroes immediately reveal their ruse and arrest him, having secretly recorded all his gloating as evidence.

Some time later, Batman finds El Paso being robbed by a trio of mythological creatures claiming to serve "The Elven Prince" - a trio that vanishes into pixels when confronted. The Caped Crusader soon recognizes these robbers as characters from the online game Craft of War, and so calls upon one of its most dedicated players: Jaime Reyes, alias the Blue Beetle.

Together, Batman and the Beetle track the robbers to their source: the Thinker, who has used his famed Thinking Cap to download himself into Craft of War. Now a creature of pure code, he can materialize any feature of the game into the real world at will - and re-digitize them to transfer all their loot into his offshore bank accounts. When confronted on the virtual plane, he easily routs Batman and the Beetle, even using an in-game spell to drain the Scarab until the Beetle turns back into Jaime Reyes.

Undaunted, Jaime calls on a nearby troop of adventurers - composed of players from all over the world - to help. To the Thinker's dismay, the adventurers comply, one particular ogre staying behind to free Jaime from the draining spell. This ogre soon reveals himself to be Batman (who had been lent a disguise code by another player); while the other adventurers had been attacking, he had infiltrated the Thinker's accounts and transferred all the loot back to the original owners.

As the Thinker reels in shock, Jaime transforms back into the Beetle and uses the Scarab's power to scour the game's file system, completely deleting the self-styled Elven Prince. Subsequently, the heroes re-materialize and join the rest of the Reyes family for dinner, Batman foreseeing the Thinker's eventual return while Jaime exhorts the vigilance of online gamers everywhere.
