Batman: The Caped Crusader is a series of trade paperbacks intended to collect the Post-Crisis issues of Batman (Volume 1).
This volume continues writer Alan Grant's run on the title with artists Norm Breyfogle and Steve Mitchell, although Mitchell leaves during this volume and Breyfogle takes over inking too.
This volume also includes the story arcs "Shadow Box" (by Chuck Dixon, Tom Lyle, Andy Mushynsky and Scott Hanna) in which King Snake returns to take vengeance, and "The Idiot Root" (by Peter Milligan, Breyfogle, Jim Aparo and Mike DeCarlo) featuring Batman going after the Queen of Hearts in Brazil. "The Idiot Root" ran across both the Batman and Detective Comics (Volume 1) titles, so the Detective Comics issues are also included in this collection.
