Batman: The Dark Knight Detective is a series of trade paperbacks intended to collect the Post-Crisis issues of Detective Comics (Volume 1).
This volume reprints the conclusion of the Detective Comics run of writer Alan Grant and artists Norm Breyfogle and Steve Mitchell, plus the Obligation story written by Archie Goodwin and drawn by Dan Jurgens.
It includes the "Rite of Passage" storyline, where on his journey to becoming Robin, Tim Drake's parents are put into peril by the Obeah Man.
Detective Comics #615 was not included in this volume because, as part of a crossover with Batman (Volume 1), it was included in Batman: The Caped Crusader Vol. 3.
