Notes
- Batman: The Sunday Classics 1943–1946 reprints the sunday Batman and Robin comic strips originally distributed by the McClure Newspaper Syndicate in the 1940s. This volume was printed as a hardcover edition with a slipcase and as a paperback version, both published jointly by DC and Kitchen Sink Press in 1991. The book was later reprinted as a hardcover by Sterling Publishing in 2007.
- Crisis on Infinite Earths: The Compendium later retroactively established that these stories took place on Earth-Forty, a reconciliation attempt meant to explain inconsistent and non-canon events of Earth-Two.
- Some stories from the Batman and Robin Sunday newspaper strip were previously also reprinted in other comic issues that were not listed as appearances of Earth-Forty in Crisis on Infinite Earths: The Compendium. This is likely due to The Compendium generally not listing duplicate publications of the same stories. For example, the reprint of the Earth-Forty story "The Second Batman and Robin Team" in Batman Annual #7 is also not mentioned in the book, while the original issue (Batman #131) is listed.
- The following stories from the Batman and Robin Sunday newspaper strip were reprinted prior to the release of Batman: The Sunday Classics 1943–1946:
- "Rustling on a Reservation" was previously reprinted in 80-Page Giant #5.
- "There Was A Crooked Man..." was previously reprinted in 80-Page Giant #12.
- "Catwoman's Grasshopper Chase" was previously reprinted in Batman #176.
- "Gotham's Cleverest Criminal" was previously reprinted in Batman #187 and The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told.
- "Holy Smoke!" was previously reprinted in Batman #193.
- "Oswald Who?" was previously reprinted in Batman #198 and as "1001 Umbrellas of The Penguin" in The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told.
- "Death Row's Innocent Resident" was previously reprinted in Batman #218.
- "Half Man—Half Monster" was previously reprinted as "The State vs. Lucky Sheldon" in Limited Collectors' Edition #C-37.
