Synopsis for Red Hood & Batman in "Cheer, Part 2 of 6"

Red Hood panics at having killed Andy for abusing his wife and child. He calls Oracle in a state of shock, and struggles to communicate with her through his guilt.

In a battered apartment, Jason's mother gives him some money and tells him to buy some bread before her friend Robby arrives. Jason complains that Robby is a drug dealer, but Catherine insists he is helping her. Jason passes Robby on the stairs and swears at him, only for Robby to pin him to a wall and threaten him with a knife, telling him that if he wants to talk tough, he needs to be able to back it up. He leaves him upset in the corridor as he goes in to give Catherine her "medicine". A trio of thugs take a ride in a van, having been dispatched to collect some "groceries". Suddenly, Batman begins calling one of their names, telling Sydney that he is disappointed in him for not having given up crime. Sydney dives out of the van trying desperately to escape, and the other thugs pull over and draw their weapons, when suddenly the street lights go out; Batman swiftly dispatches the other thugs whilst Sydney panics. Interrogating the terrified criminal, Batman deduces that he is not in fact working for Scarecrow, but rather that Sydney's winter attire means he is working for Mr Freeze. With Scarecrow dead, work had dried up, and he had fallen in with Freeze's gang, although insists that they are simply being sent out to collect food. Batman calls Oracle and explains the situation, telling her to call the police to collect the terrified thugs, and that he will deal with Freeze once he has figured out who is behind the Cheerdrops problem. Oracle relays this, and informs him that Red Hood might be in trouble.

Back at Red Hood's hideout, Tyler asks his parents, and Red Hood simply tells them they are sick, unable to bring himself to tell Tyler about his father's death. Tyler asks to play with Red Hood's mask again, and Jason obliges, stressing over what to do with the child now that he may be an orphan.

Robby finally leaves Catherine's apartment, only to find Jason sitting outside, having been looked out for the duration of their session. Robby laughs at him, saying he had decided to take some of his "medicine" too, and tells him his mother may be out for longer than normal. As he walks down the stairs, Jason silently moves behind him and pushes him, killing him.

Jason continues to stress about how to do the best by Tyler, seeing it as his responsibility, only for Tyler to tell him that his mask says Batman has arrived, and wants to speak with Red Hood. Jason makes a snide remark at Batman, and Batman criticizes him for having killed Andy, reminding him of Batman's no-kill policy in Gotham City. Jason lashes out, upsetting Tyler, and when Batman tries to restrain him, Jason punches him, starting a fight. Jason reminisces about Batman's failed parenting whilst they fight, and is ultimately bested by Batman, only for Tyler to get between them, telling Batman to leave Red Hood alone to Batman's surprise. Red Hood hugs him, telling him everything will be okay.
