Batman '89 (Volume 1) is a limited series, published by DC Comics. It began publication in 2021. It is a continuation of Tim Burton's Batman films, picking up after the events of 1992's Batman Returns.
Issues
Notes
- The series ignores the events of the Joel Schumacher-directed sequels Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997), and instead draws from ideas that were planned before Burton stepped down from directing the Batman films.
- When asked if the Schumacher films remain canon in the world of Batman '89, Sam Hamm stated that they take place in an alternate universe, Earth-97, whereas the comic series takes place in Earth-89 along with Burton's films.[1]
