Synopsis for "The Long Strange Trip"

As they fall down into the Undergoth, Batman tries to fly over and catch Kyle, but the world around him disintegrates into technicolour bats. He hallucinates scenes of his family, his first girlfriend Dana Tan and the deceased Bruce Wayne, while being tormented by the Talon. He suddenly snaps awake in an alley, but quickly realises he is still hallucinating as he transforms into a cat. He follows a colony of cats and sees them transform into splicers, one of whom is a young Kyle. Terry realises he has somehow slipped into Kyle's hallucination and sees the older Catbois beat him up, then sees him get taken in by John Constantine and inflicted with Constantine's curses when he dies.

They are once again attacked by the Talon but Terry fights him off, saying that he won't live in fear. The Talon flies up and rains down spores on them which begin to grow into fungus that completely covers them. He dives down again and Terry tells Kyle that this is a hallucination and they still need to finish their mission. Kyle says he can't fight it but Terry tells him it's not about fighting and the only way is through. The fungus and the Talon disintegrate and they hug. They wake up in the garden at the bottom of the Undergoth and are confronted by three plant elementals who call themselves "The Roots".
