Batman Beyond 2.0 #1 is a chapter in the digital-first series Batman Beyond 2.0 (Volume 1 (Digital)) with a cover date of August, 2013.
Synopsis for "Rewired, Part 1 of 8: Nothing Lasts Forever"
One year after joker night (Batman Beyond 10,000 Clowns) Mayor William Dusk takes a tour into the newly built Arkham Institute with notable prisoners Big Time, Ghoul, Mad Stan and Woof. The emphasis of the institute is rehabilitation through behavioral therapy and psychopharmacology. Suddenly the mayor collapses and goes into cardiac arrest.
In the skies of Neo Gotham Batman (Terry McGinnis) is confronted by two bat-splicers (not ordinary splicers but by synthesizing Dr Langstroms bat formula). Terry applies an antidote to them, reverting them back to humans and leaves them to the authorities.
Back in the Arkham Institute, Commissioner Gordon arrives to the scene of where Mayor William collapsed. Barbara asks the coroner if he's got everything he needs. He proposes that this sort of situation, where you collapse surrounded by all the criminals he helped lock up, might need someone with costumed experience. Dick Grayson calls Barbara to pick up the criminals Terry captured.
In Neo Gotham University Terry is greeted by his roommate Ryan. They are interrupted by Terry's ex Dana Tan. As they are catching up they see a report saying that the mayor died in Arkham. Terry leaves and rushes to Arkham.
