Batman Beyond #2 is an issue of the series Batman Beyond (Volume 1) with a cover date of April, 1999.

Synopsis for "I Am Batman"

Bruce learned from the disk that Terry gave him that Powers was using Wayne-Powers to make nerve gas. As Terry looked at Bruce's Batsuit, the old man decided not to become Batman again and instead told his visitor to give the disk to Commissioner Barbara Gordon. However, Terry didn't and Powers and Mr. Fixx took the disk from him, although he escaped.

After Bruce later realized that Terry took his Batsuit, the latter used it while infiltrating the Wayne-Powers building and overheard Powers tell Kaznian Minister of Commerce Vilmos Egans about the effects of the nerve gas. As Powers' security discovered Terry and attacked him, Bruce demanded the return of his suit, but still allowed him to attempt to stop Powers from loading his nerve gas into a hovercraft. Terry threw a gas canister at Powers, who shot it and was exposed to the gas. Then, Terry boarded the hovercraft and fought Mr. Fixx before declaring himself Batman and knocking him into the controls and causing it to fall into the ocean and exploding.

Afterwards, Powers was exposed to radiation in order to eradicate the effects of the nerve gas, but his body gained the appearance of a glowing green skeleton. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne offered Terry a "job" as his "part-time assistant."
