Synopsis for "The Long Payback, Part One"

While Neo-Gotham parties for his rebuilding initiative, a mysterious man hired the Royal Flush Gang to drag Batman into the open, but the criminals failed in doing so and their employer isn't happy about it. They must step up their game with a crime that the Dark Knight will not be able to ignore. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne has operated his back after his fight with Koru, and must sit on a wheelchair for a while. To help him, and due to the secret nature of their lives, Terry and Matt moved into Wayne Manor permanently.

Terry now is fully behind the idea of being Batman: it's who he is. And Bruce is happy about it: he finished a new suit for Terry, who must not wear the X-7 prototype again. This new suit is similar to his previous one with a few more tricks up its sleeve, but there wont be no A.I. inside him Terry will have to use his wits, just like Bruce did in his old days. In the meantime, the new Jack of the Royal Flush Gang has an idea for something big involving the rebuilding initiative.

While Matt and Bruce are in the cave, Terry goes to Dana Tan's home, to tell her he's well and that he decided to accept being Batman, but also that he wants to give them a real chance this time, with Dana knowing who he really is. Dana accepts: she will try to be a couple again with him. In the Batcave, Matt asks to Bruce about the former Robins but gets interrupted by a call from Commissioner Gordon: she wants to know if Bruce recruited a new vigilante into the fold, as a new hero is patrolling the streets of Gotham. Bruce does not know, but it is Matt McGinnis that, in secret, trains with videos of Damian and Bruce he found in the system. Barbara then talks to Bruce about Terry: she hoped he would decide to stop being Batman and build a better life, telling Bruce he should stop sending young men to the streets, as the fact that his Robins survived was lucky. Bruce answers that there was no luck: they were trained. He then shuts the communications off, telling that Terry wants to be Batman and no one forced him.

Matt then comes back, telling Bruce the Bat-Signal is on: the perfect chance to test Terry's new suit. With that being said, Bruce sends a drone to give the suit to Terry, who has to deal with an awkward moment, getting out of the shower after spending some times under the blankets with Dana. The Royal Flush Gang is attacking Gotham's museum of fine arts and they succeed in bringing Batman out: maybe undervaluing the enemy, Terry is grasped by Ace who then breaks his back, just like Bane did to the original Batman who is watching this happen live.
