The Batman Diary was a fake diary created by the Earth-Two Batman that accused the Justice Society of America of treason.
History
Shortly before his death, Batman composed a diary in which he expressed his belief that his fellow Justice Society of America members were secretly working for the Axis powers during and after World War II. He left this diary in the custody of Professor Cater Nichols, asking him not to read the diary unless Batman died by a certain date. If he was, Nichols was to read the diary on that same date and then immediately hand the diary over to Clark Kent if Kent was still the editor of the Daily Star. Since those conditions were met, Nichols did as he was told. Clark read the diary and although he believed the accusations to be fake, felt he was not the one to decide. He gave the diary to Jimmy Olsen with orders to verify its authenticity and decide if its contents should be published. Jimmy did publish it and a government hearing was held to determine if the accusations were possible and if a formal trial was necessary. It was later revealed that the diary was a last ditch attempt by Batman to stop Per Degaton by forcing the JSA to review its history and learn of a pending plot by Per Degaton - a plot that would hinge on a future event. Batman knew he would not be present for this due to his terminal cancer. While Batman could not bring himself to alert the JSA directly, he subconsciously concocted the diary as a means of accomplishing the same thing.
