"Robin and Batgirl: "13 Points to a Dead End!"": Batgirl and Robin are captured separately by the Sportsmaster and the Huntress and forced to compete in ancient Roman-style gam

Quote1 I brought that young man up as if he were my own son, Alfred! I was impressed with Dick's intelligence and skill at an early age... with his eagerness to learn... I was impressed enough to make him my partner... enough to let him strike out on his own! I'm not impressed by the accomplishments of Batgirl or Robin anymore... I've come to expect them! Quote2

Batgirl and Robin are captured separately by the Sportsmaster and the Huntress and forced to compete in ancient Roman-style games against one another so that the survivor may retrieve a giant ruby for them--or face their partner's death.

The young heroes manage to keep the score even thanks to a silent agreement and they are both forced to go down a trap-hole to retrieve the ruby. Working together, Batgirl and Robin manage to retrieve the gem and defeat the clumsy criminals. Their feat is reported by the Gotham Gazette and when Alfred and Bruce read the latest news, they both feel proud and satisfied with the young heroes.

Dr. X, a costumed villain, separates an energy double with incredible powers from his body, dubs it Double X, and uses it to fight Batman and Robin. Dr. X succeeds and takes them to his secret laboratory, where he uses his machine to separate Batman's energy from his body and create a Batman X. However, Batman used his own robot replica to trick Dr. X and overcomes the energy double before rescuing Robin. The Duo finally defeat Dr. X and deliver him to the authorities.

Synopsis for Batman: "The Broken Batman Trophies"

This story is reprinted from Batman #103.

As Bruce Wayne is being interviewed on TV during Batman Day ceremonies, a mike boom falls and accidentally cuts Bruce on the chin. Later, as Batman, he is told that three gifts will be awarded him, and the camera will zoom in for a closeup each time. Batman accepts the awards for his past feats of derring-do, but he manages to drop and smash or disfigure every trophy and, in the process, blur the closeup picture. Everyone viewing and working on the show is perplexed at Batman's clumsiness, which they think is brought on by nerves. However, when they take a break and Batman is back in his dressing room, he confides to Robin that he deliberately smashed the trophies to obscure the closeups. The shots might have revealed the cut on his chin, he explains, and he would have been instantly connected with Bruce Wayne. When he appears again, with his chin disguised by makeup, Batman apologizes for his clumsiness but reveals it was done to protect a close friend's career, and assured the donors that their trophies mean more now to him than if they were intact. Indeed, they occupy an honored space henceforth in the Batcave's Trophy room for having served to protect Batman's identity.
