Synopsis for "Spirit of the Beast, Part One: To Live and Die in California"
Mr. Rantzen, an acquaintance of Batman's, is murdered in his hobby room. Before he dies, he gives Batman a couple of clues, leading Batman to a man in San Francisco named Gibbons. While in San Francisco, Bruce Wayne visits Gibbons' gallery in an attempt to gather information. He comes back later as Batman in his Batmobile, only to find he's too late. A motorcycle gang has attacked Gibbons and killed him. The trail leads Batman to Las Vegas.
