Synopsis for "Spirit of the Beast, Part Three: Sacrifice"

Batman follows the trail of the indian renegades all the way to the Grand Canyon along with Black Wolf and his companion dog. They watch as Twisted Billy and his associates enter a cave inside a rocky formation. Inside, the leader of the indians, Two-Hearts, is waiting for them.

Billy delivers the sacred items retrieved from Gotham and San Francisco, which Two-Hearts will use in the ritual to free his people from the curse of the ghost. The ritual consists of a sacrifice and Two-Hearts has kidnapped several people, descendants of the white men who cursed their ancestors.

As soon as Two-Hearts begins the ritual, Black Wolf intervenes and confronts Two-Hearts, who is his own grandson. The dispute shall be resolved in combat and Batman is chosen as Black Wolf's champion against Two-Hearts. The fight is intense and when Twisted Billy attacks Batman from behind, the Dark Knight is forced to use his utility belt to defeat his opponent.

Black Wolf has won and in order to release the curse from his people, he knows a sacrifice must be made. He kills Two-Hearts and then releases all the kidnapped people. Shocked, Batman watches as the indians and the white people leave the cave until only him, Black Wolf and the dog remain. The old man is ready to die along with his grandson and allows the dog to be free to follow its own destiny. Batman leaves the cave as well and seals the entrance with rocks.

The next day, Bruce Wayne calls Wayne Enterprises and arranges a flight back to Gotham City, telling them that he is taking a dog with him.
