This paperback collects the Batman and Robin: Batman and Robin Must Die storyline and two other stories. Those were originally published in the comic book series Batman and Robin from August, 2010 to January, 2011, and the one-shot Batman: The Return from January, 2011. These stories are written by Grant Morrison. The illustrations are by Frazer Irving, Cameron Stewart, Chris Burnham, and David Finch.
This paperback begins with the Batman and Robin: Batman and Robin Must Die storyline. On the evening of Bruce Wayne's return to Gotham City the all-new Batman and Robin team who replaced him deal with the return of The Joker. Thomas Wayne, a man believed murdered over 20 years ago - has returned with an incredible tale to tell, and he's claiming the entire Wayne fortune. He's slyly demanding that Bruce Wayne must return if Bruce wishes to oppose the claim. But Bruce is lost in time.
The Black Mass story contains the climactic showdown between Batman and the Black Glove. It's payback time for The Dark Knight as Batman and Robin face the ultimate evil.
In the Planet Gotham story we see what happens to Dick Grayson now that the "real" Batman is back.
