DC Database

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a 2016 superhero film directed by Zack Snyder from a script by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer. It is a direct sequel to Man of Steel (2013) and centers around the conflict between the title characters, who are manipulated to battle by Lex Luthor.

The film was a box office success, but was poorly received by critics, while fans were more divided. An extended "Ultimate Edition" was released on home media months after the theatrical release, and was considerably more well-received.

It set up several other films in the DC Extended Universe, including Wonder Woman (2017) and its own sequel, Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021).
