Synopsis for We Have Blood On Our Hands
Eleven years ago, General Keita, of the Army of the Dawn, discusses a recent recruitment aid on a tiny village which turned into a bloodbath. The soldier sings the praises of two young boys, brothers who the other men call the Dragonflies, who led the attack. However the soldier reports that when the men tried to take the women after the battle, the brothers prevented them, and when the commanders tried to beat them, the boys instead beat the entire squad to the ground. Rather than ordering them killed, Keita asks that they be brought to him for special work. He asks their names, and the soldier replies that the younger brother is called Isaac, whilst the older is David Zavimbe.
In the present, seriously wounded, David fights Massacre, who, during a killing spree, has murdered one member of the Kingdom, Earth Strike, and has come to kill another, Thunder Fall. From the Haven, Matu, who has woken after David shot him with a tranquilliser dart in order to leave his sickbed, calls Batwing. David, having stalled Massacre, explains the situation and asks Matu to arrange a hospital bed for Thunder Fall. Massacre renews his assault and Batwing relies on the tools Batman supplied him with, such as his taser, but Massacre is able to regain the upper hand, and insists that David doesn't know who he's trying to protect, but that he will die trying to save a brutal coward. Before he can deliver a killing blow, Thunder Fall blasts him aside with electricity. Watching, David recalls how, after years of bloody war where the nation was led by an evil dictator and warlords did as they pleased, the Kingdom, seven African heroes fought back and brought peace to the country.
Having stopped Massacre, Thunder Fall collapses, and David, himself severely wounded, carries him to a hospital, feeling he has to repay the debt of having his life saved by such a hero. As doctors rush to save Thunder Fall, Batwing asks if the others in the Kingdom are in danger, and why. Thunder Fall answers that it's because Massacre knows the truth, and knows what the Kingdom did. With his dying words, he is able to whisper that the Kingdom betrayed all the people of Africa, and that fifty thousand people died because of them. His last words are that the members of that group deserve to die. Batwing realises that he has failed to save another hero, and that the fight with Massacre is only just beginning.
