Synopsis for "Child's Play"
In the modern day, Hollis Mason is accosted by Norbert Veldon, companion to Nelson Gardner, the former Captain Metropolis, who informs him that Gardner is upset to the point of contemplating suicide after learning that Mason has outed him in his book. Mason refuses to change the book, and Veldon stomps off, threatening a lawsuit.
Mason then thinks back once again to the old days, this time remembering the "mens only" meeting that the Minutemen held after the Comedian was caught attempting to rape Silk Spectre. The Minutemen vote unanimously to expell the Comedian from the ranks, and he lashes out, attacking Hooded Justice and threatening Captain Metropolis with a gun before finally leaving.
The Minutemen continue to grow fragmented. Months later, America enters the war, and Silk Spectre and Silhouette are recruited to make pinups for the war effort. When Sally accuses Ursula of being too prudish, Ursula counters that she would happily tie Sally up and beat her, but that Sally would probably like it. She finally leaves, and Sally demands that Larry fire her.
Later, Hollis and Ursula meet for coffee, where Hollis confides his frustrations about not being accepted for active duty in the war. Ursula asks him to accompany her on her latest mission, but he declines, saying that he's already promised to help Dollar Bill with his latest bank opening. He does, however, give her the number for his police call box.
The bank opening goes smoothly, but afterwards Bill confides his worries that Captain Metropolis and Hooded Justice will destroy the Minutemen through their sins.
Meanwhile, Silhouette's latest sojourn, breaking up a pedophile club, goes horribly wrong when she tries to rescue a young girl being held there. She tries to kill all the men, causing them to panic and return fire, wounding her and killing the girl. She drags herself to a church and calls Hollis' call box, and begs him to take her to her doctor. The doctor, Gretchen, patches up Ursula and sends Mason away before he can learn that she is also Ursula's lover.
