Bella Garten, also known as The Gardener, is an eco-terrorist and experimental botanist, known for creating plant-animal hybrids. She is Pamela Isley's long time ex-lover.
History
Origins
Bella was expelled from the faculty at Hudson University for cultivating predatory animal-plant hybrids.[1] At some point, Garten was recruited by a military-funded research doctoral graduate program led by Jason Woodrue. She worked alongside Pamela Isley, Philip Sylvian, Alec Holland and his fiance Linda Olsen Ridge. The entire group was somewhat smitten with Woodrue's intense passion and charisma, and came to believe that they could save the world.[2]
They would spent long nights bonding as a group and listening to Woodrue's philosophy. During this time, Garten engaged in a romantic tryst with fellow student Pamela Isley. Things started to change over time, however; Woodrue's military funders wanted results faster than the group could produce them, and the group's bond began to dissolve. The first to leave were Alec and Linda; later, Bella left, though not before attempting to convince Pamela to leave with her to no avail.[3]
