Beryl Hutchinson is the third Squire and later, the third Knight. As the teen sidekick of Knight (Cyril Sheldrake), the Batman of England, she was a member of the Ultramarine Corps, the Batmen of All Nations and Batman Incorporated. Beryl became Squire a time after Cyril succeeded his father, Percy Sheldrake, as the Knight, and later succeeded him when he died fighting Leviathan.
Beryl was named after British comic character Beryl the Peril. She was created by Grant Morrison and Mark Pajarillo, first appearing in JLA #26 (1999).
