The Beti-Ma is an Egyptian cat-cult that pursued Catwoman.
History
The goddess Bast had two children. A son, Maahes, and daughter, Beti. Pharaoh Hatshutsep was a woman in disguise as a man, and would not be able to rule if discovered. She struck a deal with the Bast. Hatshutsep would create a culture of people who would worship her children and in return the Bast would sustain Hatshutsep's rule. This cult would become the Beti-Ma.[1]
