Big Breeda was a mighty warrior of Apokolips and the mother of Big Barda.
History
In the era prior to the New Gods entrance to the rest of the DC universe, Breeda was one of Apokolips' greatest warriors. Breeda's performance drew the interest of Apokolips' military and scientists, and she was selected and coerced into providing her genes to create a new generation of warriors. No one ever intended for Breeda to be allowed to choose the fathers for her children, but through considerable subterfuge, she arranged for a single sample to be fertilized by a man that she genuinely loved. The product of that union is Big Barda. It remains unclear who Barda's father is, and even less clear as to how many half brothers or sisters she has.[1]
