Big Jim Mason is the Governor of Comstock Island and an enemy of Aquaman.
History
Mason was a popular governor of the island nation. But behind the scenes he was corrupt. Mason embezzled public funds and tried to sabotage the electoral campaign of his rival Vic Wake.
Aquaman tried to help Wake by investigating Mason during the election. Mason easily hid his activities from Aquaman.
Mason only slipped up when he tried to drug some sea creatures, which angered Aquaman so he went on the offensive. Aquaman took Mason to a whirlpool to feel its destructive effects and threatened to let Topo eat him, these events encouraged him to provide a quick and public confession ending his political career.
