Synopsis for "End to End"

Early one morning Paul McCannis, editor of "The Revealer" - a superhero/villain tabloid - unlocks the building only to find Penguin and two of his henchmen waiting for him. Penguin is upset about a story in that morning's paper and, after asking the whereabouts of "the girl," proceeds to bomb the building with Mr. McCannis inside. Oracle and Black Canary are watching some celebrity television show doing a story of questionable merit on Black Canary featuring an interview with Guy Gardner and erroneously linking Black Canary romantically to other heroes such as Batman and Metamorpho. The story ends and the duo see the report on the newspaper bombing. Grabbing the last edition they discover a story about a woman claiming to have been impregnated by Penguin. At the Iceberg Lounge two police officers ask Penguin about his whereabouts and several female employees provide him with alibis. After the police leave, the henchmen also leave and are followed by Black Canary who is hoping they'll lead her to the pregnant girl. They do and Black Canary is able to rescue the girl (Julie Leanne Briggs ). Penguin arrives in a limo and the villains give chase with one henchmen able to shoot Black Canary in the arm. The villains catch up to Canary and Julie in a subway station but Canary is able to defeat the villains, with some help from Julie, before passing out. It is established that Penguin is not the father, Julie lied in order to become famous. Oracle arranges for Julie to get a monthly check until the baby graduates from college. The henchmen cover for Penguin so he is not arrested with them, though there is little to charge the henchmen with anyway.

Notes

  • In the third story, Barbara looks through a number of female heroes to choose for her mission. The list includes a female Doctor Fate (which could be either Inza Nelson-Cramer or Linda Strauss) and Argent. However, those two characters have never been active at the same time period, so this is an error.
