Bizarro was a clone of Superboy created by a imperfect duplicator ray in Siegelville.

Professor Peterson was testing his invention of a duplicator ray during a thunderstorm. He first used it on a rose, which resulted in a chalky, blocky duplicate that barely resembled a flower. The professor noted it was square, white, had no aroma nor any visible organic material. Superboy consoled him by saying it was the first experiment. They were interrupted by a rogue lightning bolt, which activated the ray. Superboy shielded the professor, only to get hit himself. This caused another Superboy to be created, albeit one that was chalky white and had angular facial features. Unlike the rose duplicate, this duplicate had some organic material by way of a full head of dark hair. The duplicate also wore Superboy's outfit, which had been duplicated perfectly. Both Superboy and Professor Peterson looked in horror at the monstrosity that had just been born.
