The Black Lantern Corps became triumphant in the Blackest Night when Sinestro, who became the first White Lantern, refused to share the godlike power of Life to his allies.

Consequently, this allowed Nekron to destroy the Life Entity, leading to the entire universe being consumed by the Black Lanterns.
Nineteen days after the Blackest Night, the Black Lanterns attempted to stop the last living survivors (Sinestro, Dove, Lobo, and Mister Miracle) from remaking the universe via the Source Wall. However, the Black Lanterns failed to stop them, as Lobo channeled the life energy into the universe, which eradicated the Black Lantern Corps.
