Synopsis for "Assassin of the Sea, Conclusion"

In Ethiopia, Doctor Mist and his assistant Belphegor struggle to save Gallous's life. Gentleman Ghost attempts to pull her spirit into the afterlife, but Belphegor banishes him while Doctor Mist repairs the damage to her heart.

At Devil Ray's headquarters, he and Black Manta complete the Orichalcum trident, but its power output is too great for Devil Ray to control. Black Manta installs control circuitry and helps Devil Ray calibrate it, even though Devil Ray promised to kill him with the trident when it is finished. Devil Ray realises that Manta genuinely cares about Gallous, and sees her as a surrogate for Jackson. He reveals that he knows about the letter Manta wrote to his son, and that he also knows Manta has not sent it.

When the trident is completed, Devil Ray is about to kill Manta, but he signals to Gallous and the others, who teleport in. Torrid and her demon attack Devil Ray, but he reveals that they are the mythical Charybdis, split into two beings and imprisoned in Hades when the gods deemed her too dangerous. He uses the trident to fuse them back together and brainwashes her into attacking the others. Devil Ray teleports away to unleash his poison on Atlantis. Black Manta chases after him in an ancient plane built by the Deserters, following a tracker he placed on the trident. The others fight Torrid and Doctor Mist is able to break Devil Ray's control.

On the shores of the Atlantic, Devil Ray prepares to activate the poison gas bombs he has hidden around Atlantis but finds himself unable to go through with it. Black Manta arrives in the plane and broadcasts the locations of the bombs (presumably taken from Devil Ray's computer while they were working on the trident) to Aquaman. Devil Ray shoots him down but Manta survives and tackles Devil Ray into the ocean. The two brawl underwater until Manta uses the control circuitry on the trident to shock Devil Ray. He tells the younger man to not waste his life on hatred like he did.

The others arrive on the beach just in time to see Devil Ray fly away with a scream of rage. Manta tells them to let him go, and Doctor Mist and Torrid depart to cure the other descendants of the Deserter tribe. Gallous leaves with them and invites Manta to come but he declines. Manta deletes his letter to Jackson and sits alone on a cliff, staring out to sea.

Meanwhile in Atlantis, Aquaman and Murk use Manta's information to find and remove all the bombs from the city, surprised that their old enemy would help them.
