History

The Black Pearl worn and coveted by a great many pirates and treasure hunters, was a magical artifact of immense mystical power once belonging to a notorious seafarer named Madame Langrock. With this item in hand she was invincible while sailing the ocean as the magic within the pearl gave her total dominion over the sea itself, using it to summon crushing whirlpools & tidal waves that could dash armada's into their component planks and splinters.[1]

Black Manta and his late father would endeavor to find this relic of power for fame and fortune in later life. The former seeking out the lost penal colony of Xebel, where a hidden map belonging to it's original owner was left untouched to time. After seeking out and acquiring his son Jackson Hyde, whom his mother and Manta's former love interest kept hidden from the world, Manta would succeed at what he failed to accomplish in the beginning.

With both the map and a means to accessing the pearls keep, one that could only be accessed by Xebelian hands. After a heated battle with Jackson's friends, the Teen Titans, Manta would later lose the pearl to his estranged son, who would then hand it to Garth of the Titans, whom promised to hide the relic away for good. This time, without a map to follow in order to find it.[2]
