Blue Beetle (Volume 6) with a cover date of August, 1987.
Synopsis for "In Combat With...Carapax"
Blue Beetle and Max ran away from the armored Carapax and the police lieutenant revealed that he was looking for the truth about Dan Garrett's murder and that he knew that Ted was Blue Beetle. When Caparax found them, Blue Beetle attempted to bury him and his suit of armor under machinery while Max activated explosives. Then, Blue Beetle and Max attempted to run away before getting blown away by the explosion and knocked unconscious. At Kord Industries, as Melody was annoyed with Ted's absence, she called Randall Truman to her office to make her an offer. Melody told Jeremiah of Ted's absence, so he decided to drive away from Chicago, realizing that his employer could not help him. However, a man named Catalyst rendered him unconscious inside of his own car.
Back on Pago Island, Blue Beetle and Max got up and attempted to leave in the Bug and briefly used it to fight Carapax before attempting to flee. The Bug destroyed the boat Max used to sail to the island in an attempt to trap Carapax, although the armored man grappled onto them. In Chicago, Slate read files while Murray had trouble finding a new job before coming upon an offer from Statistical Occurrences Limited. Catalyst took a sedated Jeremiah to O'Hare International while Klaus Cornelius and Clinq had learned the status of the mission.
After Carapax broke into the Bug, Blue Beetle and Max delayed him with a bulkhead and snuck out to the exterior. At Kord Industries, a man called Overthrow observed security guards as he prepared to strike at the company.
As Carapax destroyed the bulkhead, Blue Beetle and Max took control of the Bug and he returned to the control room and dropped him into the ocean. Afterwards, Max ordered Blue Beetle to come to his office on Monday morning.
