Blue Beetle (Volume 6) with a cover date of November, 1987.
Synopsis for "...And Death Shall Have No Dominion!"
Dan Garrett demanded that the "thief who stole his good name" showed himself, so as Blue Beetle, Ted jumped down to ground level and attempted to evade his predecessor's attacks. Meanwhile, at Kord Industries, Melody asked Randy where he was when Overthrow attacked them and he claimed that he was busy at the time. At S.T.A.R. Labs, Slate continued the search for the missing subject and was also attempting to learn who activated File 13.
The subject was walking down the street, as Dan Garrett was about to crush Ted Kord with debris but hesitated. While Dan was distracted, Ted fled in his Bug before Dan flew up and broke the viewport, angering his successor. Ted brought the bug and lured Dan near a water tower and caused water to pour down on him. When Ted saw Dan use the Scarab to evaporate the water before it could touch him, Ted took the Scarab from his predecessor before hearing a voice. In France, Cornelius and Catalyst continued interrogating Jeremiah.
Back in Chicago, the voice offered to give Ted Dan Garrett's power and the original Blue Beetle refused to let this happen. Ted attempted to resist the Scarab's temptation and stop it from tempting Dan, as well. When Fisher arrived, the police were ordered to shoot Dan, who returned fire, prompting Ted to attempt to kill him in order to protect the civilians. As Dan had Ted in chokehold, the subject showed the original Blue Beetle memories of his life. Dan turned on the Scarab but was killed as a result.
