Blue Beetle (Volume 6) with a cover date of August, 1986.
Synopsis for "If This Be Madness"
After Firefist's body went missing from the museum, Blue Beetle thought that he could still be alive and preparing to strike again, but decided to return to his fortress, as there was not much he could do about it. Jeremiah looked, as he saw someone else park in his parking space before he encountered Farley Fleeter, who threatened him for missing his deadline. Blue Beetle intervened before chasing them away, although Jeremiah was gone, as well. At her home in Evanston, Angela was about to leave for work when her uncle ordered her to steal another circuit-switcher from Kord Electronics, much to her reluctance.
Blue Beetle returned the Bug under Kord Industries and as Ted Kord, he visited Murray and Curt Calhoun testing the promethium in the metallurgy lab. At a bar on the South Side, Albert Desmond, the janitor from S.T.A.R. Labs convinced Fleeter to revive his gang, the Madmen, and break into Kord Industries.
Ted approached Melody and asked her if she had seen Jeremiah before finding him and was told that he received his wound from walking into an open door. Ted knew that Jeremiah was lying but could not reveal that he was Blue Beetle. Doctor Alchemy watched as men at the loading docks behind Kord Industries opened crates unexpectedly delivered to them.
Max Fisher visited Kord Industries and asked Ted about the death of Dan Garrett. The men at the loading docks watched as the Madmen burst from the crates and attacked them. Ted's and Fisher's conversation was interrupted when they learned what was happening. When Fisher rushed away to confront the Madmen, Ted took the chance to suit up as Blue Beetle. Melody and Jeremiah activated the emergency security system, distracting the Madmen and allowing Blue Beetle to hide from them. The Madmen attacked and subdued Melody and Jeremiah before Blue Beetle rushed to the experimental weapons lab. While Blue Beetle fought Fleeter in the experimental weapons lab, Doctor Alchemy was able to acquire the promethium.
Blue Beetle defeated Fleeter before finding Doctor Alchemy with the promethium.
