Blue Beetle (Volume 6) with a cover date of December, 1986.
Synopsis for "Gang War"
The Muse wanted to take down the gang that controlled Chicago, but the gangs wanted to execute Blue Beetle and the Question first. As the Muse was prepared to execute the two heroes, the Bug came crashing into the building and both heroes broke free of their bonds. The Muse ordered his gangs to kill the heroes, but they abandoned him as they heard sirens. Then, the Muse threw a smoke grenade and fled before the police arrived and surrounded the heroes before they escaped, as well. In her Evanston home, Angela watched her uncle work on his "special project", which he planned to use for revenge. Angela considered striking him in the head with a statuette, but did not have the courage or strength.
In his Bug, Blue Beetle suggested keeping tabs on the Muse's gangs in order to anticipate him attempting to make contact with them again. Blue Beetle introduced the Question to Snoopy, who would keep tabs on the gangs for them, along with a dozen more like him. The Muse visited Vincent Perignon in his sleep and urged him to retire or he would die. Don Perignon summoned his guards before the Muse escaped with the help of a smoke bomb. The crime boss was angry that a man had pulled a gun on him in his own house moments before Richie rushed to him. The elder Perignon declared that he was going to war against the other gangs and the younger believed that it got out of hand and had to stop it.
In Midtown Chicago, Jeremiah left a package for a man who expected the same package from him every week. After the man disappeared, Jeremiah wondered how to get out of the situation. The gangs met again at Wrigley Field and through a Snoopy, Blue Beetle and the Question watched as they heard Brandon of the Wild Ones declare that they should work together, but without the Muse. When the two heroes saw armed men in black limousines, they rushed to Wrigley Park.
As the gangs argued over who would lead them all, black limousines surrounded them and Don Perignon and his gang came out and pointed their guns at them. Blue Beetle and the Question dropped in and fought all of the gangs in order to stop someone from being killed. The two heroes attempted to take the Don in order to stop the fighting before the Muse appeared and attempted to call off the gangs he had previously led. As Brandon attempted to shoot Don Perignon, the Muse stood in his way and bled out, as the Don learned that the man in the clown mask was his own son. Richie revealed that he wanted to put him out of business, so that he could live his own life and be an actor. As Richie died, Blue Beetle, the Question, and all of the gangs had a moment of silence.
