- In fearful day, in raging night,
with strong hearts full, our souls ignite!
When all seems lost in the War of Light,
look to the stars, for hope burns bright!- —Blue Lantern Corps oathsrc
The Blue Lantern Corps is the corps that harnesses the blue light of hope.
History
Fall of the Blue Lantern Corps
The Blue Lantern Corps was destroyed when The Reach invaded Odym. During the attack, the Blue Central Battery was destroyed, and a number of corps members lost hope, whereupon their rings left them to find other recruits. The Corps took the Central Power Battery and moved it to the newly discovered world of Elpis.
The planet was visited by the ancient Relic who intended to eliminate the threat posed by the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum. To achieve this goal, he decided to first target the Blue Light of Hope where he drained the Central Power Battery and eliminated the Blue Lantern Corps. This left Saint Walker as the only survivor who had managed to escape with the aid of White Lantern Kyle Rayner. Eventually the pain of losing the other members of his Corps after learning what happened became too much for Saint Walker and his ring abandoned him, resulting in the end of the Blue Lantern Corps. Eventually, Saint Walker was able to regain his confidence in his ring, restoring his abilities, and leaving him as the only active Blue Lantern.[1] Some time later, the H'lvenite Green Lantern B'dg lost his power ring due to the actions of Koyos and attempted to reform a new one by using Emerald Knight's power. Instead, it manifested a blue one, making B'dg a Blue Lantern.[2]
