In 1941, Bothnia was a Central European dictatorship. After 1942, Bothnia no longer existed.
History
In the 1920s and 1930s, the post-WWI hellscape of Europe spawned a significant number of Central European dictatorships, including: Aryania, Barbaria, Bothnia, Darmania, Dunland, Govania, Jarmania, Kampfland, Latavia, Nordicha, North Germany, Teutonia, Tuvania, Wurtberg and others. These countries were very similar in their national cultures, and some of the leadership cadres of their ruling parties bore strong resemblances to their foreign counterparts. When the Second World War got well and truly rolling, all of these countries, except Teutonia, were not only admitted to the Axis Powers, but politically annexed and absorbed into Hitler's Nazi Germany. After WWII, almost none of these nations existed again.
In the late 1930s, Bothnian secret agents had infiltrated the New York National Guard. An American secret agent, known only as "X-5", found out about this, and he disguised himself in a Bothnian Merchant Marine uniform, and using some fake papers, he talked his way aboard an ammunition-laden Bothnian cargo ship. It sailed to Spain. Stolen U.S. rifles were unloaded at Bilbao, and trucked away. Later that day, in that region of Spain, several airplanes were rented and/or stolen, and at least one aerial dogfight took place. More awkwardly, a secret Bothnian military base was found, inside the borders of neutral Spain. Spanish police then took charge of the situation. The American agent X-5 escaped.
